In this extended four-movement suite, each movement is exactly 60 seconds in length, with varying styles and tempi. The piece is intended to be performed without pause between movements.

A Quartet Fo[u]r Bassoons - bassoon quartet

Completed in December 2012, this piece not only features four bassoonists, but is centered around the tonal harmonies of chords by fourths. The pieces combines parallel motion of perfect fourth intervals, or quartal harmony, along with canonical entrances. The piece can be divided into four larger sections. Sections I and IV are quick and percussive, while sections II and III explore the same tonal world with long sustained chords.

This solo was the 2005 winner of the Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Award. Written in 6/8 meter and the key of D minor, the piece is in A-B-A form. The A section has the melody in the left hand with a broken-chord accompaniment in the right hand. The B section is slower and chorale-like. The return of the A section is followed by a short coda.

The Struggling Dream - flute ensemble

This piece was composed for the Appalachian State University Flute Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Nancy Schneeloch-Bingham. The group premiered the piece on November 5, 2005 in Rosen Concert Hall. The Struggling Dream features very dense dissonance.

Originally a duet exclusively for cello and bass, this newly reimagined version of New Birth includes a fully orchestrated accompaniment for strings. Commissioned by the duo "Low and Lower" and dedicated to the celebration of the composer's first-born child, this original composition is filled with beautiful harmonies and soaring melodies, sure to render an emotional response by any audience. While the solo cello and string bass are of a more advanced difficulty, the string orchestra parts are accessible to less experienced orchestras.

Two Movements for Trumpet, Horn, and Piano - brass trio (advanced difficulty)

Evoke images of waves and rapids through two separate movements composed specifically for trumpet, horn, and piano. The first movement is a clear representation of flowing waves, slowly crashing into one another, while the second movement offers quick and biting rhythms, with moments of tranquility, much like whitewater rafting.
